i flew home for christmas one year and when i got to the airport, realized that i didn’t have any ID on me. nada. just a library card with a picture of a purple unicorn. after being told i wasn’t allowed to board the plane because i was now a “security hazard,” i snapped into my best vivien leigh impression and gave an impassioned plea to the airline worker to let me go home (complete with water works). this took time, effort and skill, but it paid off in the end. to date, i’m pretty sure i’m the only person post-9/11 who has been allowed to board a commercial airline without any ID. it’s this same kind of passion and persuasion that i try to infuse into my copywriting.
